OIC Productions has completed filming of "Snack Attack", a comedy short to be submitted to America's Funniest Home Videos Mini-Movie contest. Written and Directed by Mickey Grackin, "Snack Attack" is about what happens when Mickey tries to consume his favorite snack alone. Tom Dubill served as Director of Photography for this project. Mickey stars in this comedy short along with his three eldest children. Filming went well as the weather provided plenty of lighting for the outdoor shots. The children were eager to get involved with this production but had to wait as Tom and Mickey filmed the beginning scenes for the video. At last, time came for the kids to do their stuff and they performed like the true stars they are! Even the youngest at only three years old followed directions perfectly. Jay Lecher, a friend of Mickey and Tom, will be providing the musical sound track for OIC Productions first entry into a video contest. The final cut of "Snack Attack" will be available for viewing in the "Projects" section of OIC Productions web site when it is complete. Check back for news updates as "Snack Attack" makes its way to primetime television! |
No, not Vegas as in gambling. That would be Sony Vegas® as in Non-Linear Video Editing. OIC Productions is a user of the Vegas Non-Linear Video Editing software by Sony Media Software which was named Best Product of the Year by Videomaker Magazine in their February 2004 issue. While looking for a local Vegas user group to get involved with, Mickey Grackin, Co-Founder of OIC Productions, found that there was none in the Washington DC area. Taking the bull by the horns, Mickey posted messages on the various Vegas discussion forums calling out to fellow Vegas users in the Washington/Baltimore area. The plan was to find local users of the popular editing software and form a user group. After having many users contact him and after many email discussions with fellow user Joe Carney, the inaugural meeting for the Washington Baltimore Vegas User Group (WBVUG) has been set! The WBVUG meeting will be held at Union Station in Washington DC on Sunday, August 22nd at 4:00pm in the food court. It is always great to meet fellow filmmakers and to share our experiences and projects produced with the Vegas software. For more information about this meeting and the Washington Baltimore Vegas User Group, check out the WBVUG web site. |

| Finally! No Yellow Flags! (July 12, 2004) |
Quiet on the Set!? (July 6, 2004) |

WOW! What a weekend! OIC Productions was on location this past weekend (July 10th & 11th) at Summit Point Raceway to film Stuart Barth racing in the 44 Cup Series during HyperFest. The weekend started smoothly with the capturing of in car footage during Stu's practice session. Then, during the qualifying session, Mickey and Tom were positioned at the fastest corner of the track and were able to get some great footage of Stu in his #19 car. Stu qualified 5th for the race that afternoon. Then, in the first turn of the first lap of the race, Stu's car was hit by another car that went off the track and then came back on again. Stu was able to keep going but the car didn't hold in the next turn and he ended up off the track before reaching turn five. The race was immediately put under a yellow flag. After a few laps of no sign of Stu, Mickey and Tom realized he had gone off the track. Stu's car was towed back to the paddock where he discovered that the first collision had punctured his left rear tire and made a hefty dent in his corner panel. He lost his rear bumper as well during a second collision when he went off the track. Stu assessed the damage and concluded that he could still race the next day. Sunday morning Stu got back out on the track for practice. Not sure how the car would handle, he decided to only do a few laps and then brought the car into the paddock. Mickey and Tom were, again, unable to capture footage of Stu on the track. That left only two sessions for them to complete their filming of Stu. Taking advantage of their time off the track, Mickey and Tom setup and interviewed a number of Stu's racing colleagues. They had incredible things to say about him. Stu, once again, got on track for the qualifying round in the afternoon on Sunday. Again, Mickey and Tom were positioned at key points around the track to capture all the action. However, after only two laps, the track was put under a yellow flag again due to a car fire. Another disappointing session for the drivers as well as for OIC Productions. Finally, when the last race of the weekend came around, everyone was hoping for a good, clean race and their patience was duly rewarded. The race was completed with no yellow flags. OIC Productions was rewarded as well with some excellent shots of Stu giving his fellow drivers a run for their money. It was a weekend that will not soon be forgotten and all the footage will make for a fantastic promotional video for Stuart Barth. |
There definitely will be no "Quiet on the Set!" this weekend, July 10th & 11th, for OIC Productions. Mickey and Tom are hitting the road and heading out to Summit Point Raceway for HyperFest. HyperFest is a weekend jam packed with all kinds of racing events. One of those events is the 44 Cup Series in which Stuart Barth will be participating. Stu is a good friend of Mickey and Tom and is the subject of OIC Productions next project. Stu has his own web site (www.stuartbarth.com) which he is looking to spice up with racing footage. He is also looking to put together a longer video/DVD that will be sent to prospective sponsors. That's where OIC Productions comes in. They will be following Stu all weekend, filming everything from car preparations to crossing the checkered flag (hopefully ahead of everyone else). Rob Perez from Visual Cliff will be providing the high intensity music for the video. It promises to be an exciting weekend and a great project for OIC Productions. |
